§ 4-24. Animals in state of pain or suffering.
(a)
In the event any untagged animal shall be found in a state of pain and suffering or becomes so during confinement, the humane officer is authorized to dispose of such animal in a humane manner without complying with the seventy-two (72) hour waiting period.
(b)
In the event any tagged animal shall be found in a state of pain and suffering or becomes so during confinement, the humane officer is authorized to dispose of such animal in a humane manner after a waiting period of twenty-four (24) hours and a reasonable and diligent effort to contract the owner.
