§ 13-2. Combat automobile theft program.

  • (a)

    The Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law authorizes counties and municipalities to enact ordinances to establish "combat automobile theft" programs whereby motor vehicle owners may enroll their vehicles in the program by signing a consent form, in advance, which authorizes law enforcement officers to stop the vehicle, between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

    (b)

    The "combat automobile theft" program, authorized under the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law, is hereby established in the City of Coral Springs. The program shall include:

    (1)

    Consent forms for motor vehicle owners who wish to participate in the program and enroll their vehicles;

    (2)

    Bright yellow decals, which indicate a vehicle's enrollment in the "combat automobile theft" program;

    (3)

    All other provisions of the "combat automobile theft" program as provided for in the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law.

    (c)

    Administration of the "combat automobile theft" program shall be conducted by the police department of the City of Coral Springs.

    (d)

    In order to provide for the cost of administering the program, a fee of three dollars ($3.00) for each decal is hereby established. (Ord. No. 91-145, § 1, 10-1-91)
