§ 6-17. Election dates.
In accordance with the provisions of Section 4.02 of the City Charter Chapter 2004-443, Laws of Florida, the municipal election date is amended as follows:
(1)
Beginning with the November 2008 general election, there shall be a general election in each even-numbered year on the second Tuesday of November, or such other date as may be set by general law, or as otherwise provided herein, for the purpose of electing members of the city commission and to coincide with the November general election date.
(2)
Pursuant to Chapter 2004-443, Laws of Florida, the effective date of this change in election date shall be eighteen (18) months after the adoption of this ordinance.
(3)
Pursuant to Section 4.02 of the Charter and applicable law, the terms of the following elected officials are extended as follows:
a.
Seat 1 (Mayor, elected March 2006 with a term expiring March 2008) term is hereby extended through the November 2008 general election;
b.
Seat 2 (Commissioner, elected March 2006 with a term expiring March 2010) term is hereby extended through the November 2010 general election);
c.
Seat 3 (Commissioner, elected March 2004 with a term expiring March 2008) term is extended through the November 2008 general election;
d.
Seat 4 (Commissioner, elected March 2006 with a term expiring March 2010) term is hereby extended through the November 2010 general election; and
e.
Seat 5 (Commissioner, elected March 2004 with a term expiring March 2008) term is extended through the November 2008 general election.
