§ 4-17. Enforcement; interference with humane officer.

  • (a)

    Upon receipt of a complaint the name and address of the complainant shall be received and upon subsequent investigation or, in the alternative, in the event that a violation is committed in the presence of the humane officer, the humane officer may cause a citation to be issued to the owner of the offending animal. The citation shall be accepted and signed by the owner and by said signature the owner shall agree to appear in court to answer the charges outlined in the citation.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to resist, obstruct, hinder, oppose, or interfere with the humane officer in the lawful execution of his or her duty to enforce this chapter. Any person who willfully refuses to accept and sign a citation or notice to appear issued pursuant to this section for a violation under this chapter shall be guilty of a separate violation, and that person may be arrested by any law enforcement officer of the City of Coral Springs, Florida.
