§ 4½-1. Definitions.

  • (a)

    Bicycle shall mean every device propelled by human power upon which any person may ride, having two (2) tandem wheels either of which is over sixteen (16) inches in diameter, and including any device generally recognized as a bicycle though equipped with two (2) or more front or two (2) or more rear wheels. Children's tricycles, however, shall not fall within the definition of "bicycle" as herein defined.

    (b)

    Owner shall mean any person who owns and operates a bicycle within the municipal limits of the City of Coral Springs to specifically include minors who have the use and control of a bicycle with the knowledge and consent of their parents or guardians.

    (c)

    Bicycle in unsafe mechanical condition shall mean a bicycle which does not meet all of the following safety criteria:

    (1)

    Brakes—Work smoothly, evenly.

    (2)

    Seat—Tight, right height and tilt.

    (3)

    Chain—Oiled, not too tight, not too loose.

    (4)

    Spokes—Tight, none missing.

    (5)

    Grips—Good condition, tight.

    (6)

    Handlebars—Tight, proper height.

    (7)

    Tires—Good tread, correct air pressure.

    (8)

    Pedals—Good tread, oiled.

    (9)

    Front lamp and rear red reflector—For use after sundown.
