§ 24-5. Local hearing officer, clerk to the local hearing officer, and hearings.

(a)

Any current or future special magistrate, as provided for within Section 189 of the Coral Springs Land Development Code, shall be designated to act as a local hearing officer in accordance with State law.

(b)

The local hearing officer shall conduct hearings related to appeals of notices of violation issued pursuant to State law.

(c)

The city manager shall appoint a clerk to the local hearing officer from among existing staff to schedule appeals of notices of violation for hearing.

(d)

All hearings shall be conducted in accordance with State law. All hearings shall be informal and the formal rules of evidence shall not apply. However, fundamental due process shall be observed and shall govern the proceedings.
